Travel Arrangements
Please be sure to make your travel arrangements early to allow you to stay within your travel allowance.
Housing
Unless you have chosen to make your own housing arrangements, you will be staying at the Nugget Hotel. The hotel is about a 15 minute bus ride from the Convention Center, and a short cab ride from the Reno-Sparks Airport. (see text emailed to you on 9/17)
There is a free shuttle between the airport and the Nugget Hotel about every half hour.
Transportation
The conference is providing bus service between the Nugget Hotel and the Reno-Sparks Convention Center. The bus schedule will be posted in the lobby of the Nugget Hotel.
The bus from the Hotel to the Convention Center on Saturday morning will only run twice - once at 6:30 AM and a second time about 7 AM (as soon as the buses return from the first run). There will be a regular bus schedule starting Saturday afternoon through the rest of the next week.
Meals
A full hot breakfast will be served at the Convention Center 7-8 AM on Saturday through Tuesday. Lunches will be provided at noon on Saturday through Tuesday within the Convention Center. Morning and afternoon breaks will be provided on Saturday through Tuesday.
There will be a poster/reception Saturday evening at the Nugget Hotel from 7-9 PM. There will be an Exhibitor Party on Sunday evening, and you will attend the Conference Exhibit Hall Gala opening on Monday evening. We expect that you will receive adequate reception style food during the Saturday, Sunday and Monday evening events in lieu of having to go out for dinner.
You are on your own for all other meals.
Registration
You do NOT need to register for the SC07 conference – we will arrange for your conference registration, and provide you with the conference badges when you arrive in Reno. You are required to wear the badges at all SC07 events.
On-site registration for the Education Program will occur Friday, November 9 from 7-9 PM in the lobby of the Nugget Hotel, and on Saturday morning at the Reno-Sparks Convention Center. There will be a light reception on Friday evening after you register, but not enough for a full meal.
You will receive a SC07 Conference badge which you should wear at all events for admittance to sessions, including meals.
Dress
People attending the conference will range in their dress from casual, to business casual, to suits. In general, we recommend that you dress comfortably and wear footwear to accommodate lots of walking. People tend to dress up a little more for the Monday evening Gala opening of the Exhibit Hall.
Cancellations
If for any reason you are unable to attend the conference, please let us know right away, so that others on the waiting list may have a chance to take your place. If you cancel within two weeks of the conference, we will not return your $75 registration fee unless we are able to fill your place from the waiting list.
