Mashup Lab with Google's Mapping API
This lab is designed to show you how to use the basic funcitonality of a hand-held GPS unit and how to build a simple map mashup using Google's mapping API (application programming interface).
For the lab you will be working in groups of 3 people, the instructors will assign the groups to insure there is a good mix of technical and non-technical people in each group.
The basic outline of the lab is as follows:
- Orient yourself to the Magellan eXplorist GPS. Basic instructions can be found (here).
- Identify the campus features you are interested in visiting.
- Walk to each of the features, mark a waypoint using the GPS, and take a picture.
- Come back to the lab and build your mashup.
