Calls
Thursday, May 7, 2009
Present: Charlie, Tom, Kay
To Do:
- Set up mailing list
Issues:
- LDAP
- Software versions
- Level of administrative access to each others' clusters
- How to extend this for the future
- Licensing
- Group policies, application policies
- Rocks+
- Firewalls
- Mathematica support
Summary:
- Want to link our clusters together in such a way that when you have a particular need, we have a consistent set of interfaces, a single signon, and resources available
- May include LittleFes we're putting online for the contest
Notes:
- Torque virtual queues can map to one or more actual queues named with a host modifier
- Low-level: authentication and home directory sharing
- LDAP?
- Globus toolkit can “import” home directories – do we want to look at it?
- Potentially just running rsync – interrogation protocol following data if different
- WebMO has ability to talk to other webmo instances, as does Mathematica
- We're not going to use the BCCD on these clusters this time around
- BCCD will eventually get up to point where we can put scheduler, etc. we need and put it in a package
- Package to let us hook up with edu-grid (plumbing, no credentials)
- Also scheduler
