This page documents specific data to gather for analysis when something is broken

X11

• output of startx
• the X configuration (probably /etc /X11 /Xorg.conf or /etc /X11 /XF86Config)
• the X log file (something like /var /log /X*.log).
• dmesg to pick up video chipset and related config info
• lspci -vvv would also help
