Fitz, Skylar

Speakup kernel built

  • Skylar can test software modules, but has no hardware. Does Shodor have anything available?

Combining 32/64-bit kernels

  • different trees for the arch-dependent stuff (pre-built modules, etc.)
  • For ease, probably stick with 32-bit builds for applications unless there's a dire need for 64

Brings up the question, which apps would need 64?

  • Gromacs? mpiblast? Do people even use these on the BCCD? We'd gain a lot of space by removing them
    • (Gromacs, for example, is 120MB compressed, 345M uncompressed)
  • Do the MPI implementations, when compiled as 64-bit, have 32-bit compatibility support?
    • after all, mpicc, etc., are just shell scripts (for the most part).

Fitz's torque issues

  • pbs_mom and pbs_server don't communicate when head node as 192.168.3.1 (default)
  • no amount of fussing around seems to change this fact.
  • Try forcing it over loopback?
  • Does this happen outside the BCCD too?
  • tcpdump and check for differences between 3.1 and a working IP?

C3 support pretty much done (merging in today)
